How to get rid of stretch marks: laser treatment or mesotherapy

Stretch marks are caused by a degeneration of the elastic fibres of the dermis which, at certain points in life, stretch until they break. Very similar to scars, stretch marks are distinguished according to their stage of development into red-violet, in the initial inflammatory phase, and pearly white in the later phase. The treatment of the former is certainly quicker and easier, while the white ones - thus already converted into scar tissue - are definitely more difficult to eliminate.

it is a very common blemish in both sexes, but has a decidedly female prevalence in particular during 'delicate' transitions such as adolescence and pregnancy or weight fluctuations. The areas of the body most affected are those affected by these volume changes, i.e. the abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks and inner thighs.

When stretch marks are red or pink their formation is recent and it is easier and quicker to treat them, on the other hand when they are white they have already converted into scar tissue and it is more difficult to remove them.

The two different types of stretch marks can be treated with good results with both mesotherapy and the Palomar fractional laser.

Stretch marks are produced by the rupture of the fibres that support the skin; mesotherapy introduces substances into the skin that recover collagen and elastin, which are essential for the regeneration of new tissue in stretch marks. The problem is thus treated locally through the intradermal injection of a medicinal substance. The syringe is equipped with a small needle that repeatedly penetrates the skin without passing through the layer of fat. Through this procedure, the skin is moisturised, becomes more elastic and smoother. This treatment is combined with peeling, which 'consumes' the stretch mark skin. the time taken for the treatment to be effective varies depending on the type of stretch marks; those that have just appeared require only a few sessions, while older ones need months of treatment.

Another type of treatment is the Palomar fractional laser, one of the most innovative and effective tools for reducing skin irregularities on both young and mature skin. This device is used to stimulate the recompacting of the skin tissue where the tear has occurred without leaving burns or abrasions. The method is outpatient and is carried out with maximum safety. After the treatment, stretch marks appear thinner, smoother and the skin looks younger. Again, the process may require several sessions, depending on the severity of the stretch marks.

Which of your procedures should I choose? It depends on many factors. an individual professional assessment is necessary. Each case is different and requires customised treatment. However, the good news is that fighting stretch marks is possible, and with good results!
